Director & Teacher
Dr. Linda D. has extensive years of experience and knowledge teaching gifted and talented education and implementing multi-criteria gifted assessment for children ages 3-12. As a per diem substitute teacher of Manhasset Public Elementary Schools, she taught Kindergarten to Grade 4 students. Linda successfully created and directed Amityville Elementary Public School Quest Gifted and Talented program for students Grade 1 through Grade 5. Linda earned a Doctorate of Education degree from Columbia University and studied under Dr. James Borland, Dr. Abraham Tannenbaum and Dr. Burton. She also earned a Master of Education degree from Columbia University and two Master of Science degrees in Education from Long Island University, CW Post. In addition, Linda attends and participates in Harvard University plenaries, institutes, and discussions with Dr. Howard Gardner, Dr. David Perkins, and renowned scholars.
As a catalyst and active educator, Dr. D. guides and enhances the learning of Spectrum students and teachers to develop their understanding and practice of the seven domains of knowledge. Linda ensures and promotes individualized curriculum and instruction to meet each student’s interests, abilities, and needs while making learning visible. She also maintains a stimulating enriched environment as a powerful tool that enhances students’ cognitive, social, emotional and physical development.
STEAM Director & Teacher
"Science" Jason began his educational career as a Research Assistant at Adelphi University conducting experimental designs and procedures for a research study titled "Investigating College Students Thinking about Scientific Concepts" while obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Adelphi University. Upon graduation, he worked with AHRC New York City as a Teacher Assistant where he collaborated with teachers in designing and organizing an optimal learning environment for gifted student’s ages 5-7. Jason has also studied Mind Brain research at Harvard University. He earned two Associate Degrees Liberal Arts and Science from Orange Coast College.
Jason was awarded two "NYS Scholar" grants for high academic achievement in his master studies and Early Childhood Education internship. Jason holds a Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from LIU CW Post College. Jason’s passion for science inspired students to dub him “Science” Jason. As teacher and STEAM director at My Spectrum School, Jason creates and implements Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics in school program activities and projects. As a role model, Jason encourages students to enjoy and practice the seven domains of knowledge which prepares them to pursue the careers of doctors, scientists, artists, engineers, teachers, while being creative and passionate life-long learners.
Assistant Director & Teacher
Jennifer began her fashion career collaborating with senior executives of renowned corporations: Nike, Inc. and Ralph Lauren Corporation and traveled extensively throughout North America, South America, Asia and Europe developing men’s and women’s apparel and accessories collections and creating cross-functional teams and operational processes. In 2013, she launched a consulting and D.I.Y. project business, Junket Market, Inc. based on her New York roots and passion for lifelong learning which guide her global fashion and educational experiences.
Jennifer participated in Harvard University Graduate School of Education Project Zero summer session which inspired the interactive design and hands-on learning environment of My Spectrum School. In collaboration with Dr. D. and Science Jason, Jennifer continually contributes creative and innovative ideas that foster 21st century skills and incorporate real-world experiences in the development of My Spectrum School STEAM topics, activities, and projects. Additionally, she brings a new perspective to My Spectrum School by introducing modern fashion design concepts to our school, after school, and workshop programs. As an active member of our school community, Jennifer is excited about the opportunity to connect with current and new families, to enhance and initiate My Spectrum School programs, and to further our community outreach in connection with Port Washington School District and local organizations.
Jennifer holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Loyola Marymount University and Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University Maryland. She is pursuing a Master of Art in Teaching degree from Queens College, expected 2024 and the NYS Children's Program Administrator Credential through NYAEYC. In addition to professional and academic interests, she enjoys yoga, reading business and fashion lifestyle publications, developing and implementing hands-on children’s activities and projects, and participating in STEAM maker and craft fairs.
